A playful use of the many ocean and sky blues is mixed in with this semi-oceanfront Hatteras home! Less than a min. from the ocean walkway, Kite Tales tells the classic story of a happy Hatteras vacation holiday. Its four-bedroom and two-bathroom accommodations along with its dog-friendly policy, invites everybody (including four-legged friends) to come on this hideaway getaway.
Starting at the very top of this one-story home is the rooftop deck located for optimum ocean vistas and decorated in vibrant blue calming deck chairs. The main entrance is greeted by the living room, with plenty of seating and room to relax before (or after) a full day on the beach. Directly beyond that is the eight-seated dining room table with a fireplace backdrop and comfortable reading corner. Exiting off the carpet and into the kitchen is additional island-stool seating surrounded by additional cabinet and counter space. Prep your favorite beach home cuisines with plenty of room to store all the leftovers and ingredients in the kitchen's sizable refrigerator. Directly outside is the more deck space with tables that are ideal for outdoor lunches or early morning coffee.
Down the hall, on the opposite side of the in-home washer and dryer, are the four bedrooms. Two of the rooms feature one queen-sized bed in each while the remaining two bedrooms have two single-sized beds in each. With plenty of sleeping space for family and friends, each of the rooms has enormous windows to maximize natural light.
No matter what you choose, wake up every day refreshed and only steps away from the ocean. Other close by attractions include Teach's Lair Marina or simply go out and watch the sunset over the sound on the far side of the Marina. The Hatteras Landing stores are great for a shopping day while waiting for the ferry boats to sail you straight to Ocracoke (another striking Island adventure featuring a brewery, art, books, eateries, events, and tons of pirate lore).
Back on Hatteras, this home is located near the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum (with complimentary admission, donations appreciated) as well as the final beach access ramp on Hatteras for off-road cars. With many eateries, bakeries/coffee stores, art galleries, and soundside units you will have so many great memories and stories to tell when you stay at Kite Tales.

Finding the best Hatteras rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Hatteras restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Dog-friendly home w\/deck, outdoor shower, washer\/dryer, beach access, ocean view has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
