SEMI-OCEANFRONT Waves – Mac Oca Ct. – Making memorable vacation memories is painless to do at MAKIN’ WAVES. This four-bedroom/two- and two-half-bath home provides a calming counterpoint to the active endeavors of a Hatteras Island vacation. Sitting just one block from the oceanfront, this is a ideal family home, offering simple beach access and sunrise to sunset vistas from a sizable deck.

Rinse off the salt and sand in the outdoor shower while the fisherman prepares their catch on the fish cleaning station before lighting up the charcoal grille. Through the dry entry under the home, you will find the first of the home’s four bedrooms. Featuring a pyramid bunk and half bath, this level is ideal for those who are late risers. Away from the bustle of upstairs, you can savor an entire floor to yourself. On the second level, a second pyramid bunk room and two queen bedrooms, which share a Jack-and-Jill bath, provide ample places to sleep between days in the sun.

The third level features an open floor plan where sunrises will stream through the ocean facing windows, filling the space with impressive morning light. New great room furnishings, including a queen couch bed, offer an inviting spot to watch the Intelligent TV or simply fixate on the gorgeous ocean vistas across the street. Park yourself at the kitchen counter to appreciate your morning cup of coffee or in one of eight chairs at dinner time for a family feast. Wind down the day on the deck as the sun sinks below the sound.

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Waves. Booking your Hatteras vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation.
