Why walk back into the cold air conditioning in your wet swimsuit when you can walk to the half bath right near the pool area in comfort. Speaking of comfort, all beds were newly purchased and will allow you a great nighttime’s sleep after a day of sun and surf. Vistas from the huge windows and decks on the back of the home feature the gorgeous sand dunes, morning sunrise and striking ocean that will beckon you to stroll, fish or swim. You can even discover the 19th century shipwreck that is not too far from your entrance to the wide broad beach or spot the dolphins at play. The vistas from the side decks and the front of the home showcase the impressive sunsets that the Outer Banks are famed for as well as glimpses of the Pamlico Sound which during the spring/summer/fall will display a colorful scene of kite surfers and hydro foilers in the sky.
You can partake in many of the many world-acclaimed water sports from the providers here in the area. The surfing here is also one of the best spots on the entire east coast. Take a lesson if you want to learn to kite board, hydrofoil or surf or rent all the equipment you need from the well-respected providers.
Fishing is also one of the most sought-after past times here on the Outer Banks and we have a fish cleaning table with water available to assist you with your catch.
After a day on the beach, refresh with a shower (hot or cold) in our outdoor enclosed shower on our pool deck. Appreciate the crystal-clear pool waters and relax in multiple of the seated areas inside the pool. Parlor under an umbrella while your drink chills in our deck cooler or sunbathe on one of the chaise lounge chairs.

Booking the best Salvo vacation rental experience:
When to visit Salvo & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Luxury 5 bedroom/5 bath oceanfront with pool has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
