Tips to get the perfect Hatteras rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the perfect rental home in Salvo:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Rooftop Deck has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
