Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:

  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Spacious dog-friendly haven with private pool, hot tub, pool table, & AC has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Hatteras beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
