Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hatteras rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your Hatteras vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the best rental in Frisco:
- Start by having your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Peaceful & sunlit dog-friendly retreat with balcony - near beaches & pool access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Hatteras destination you are enamored with, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
