Tips to get the perfect Avon vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hatteras area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanside Getaway has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
