OCEANFRONT Avon — Private Drive A private drive off of Route 12 brings you to your Hatteras Island Retreat. Park next to the horseshoe pits or in the covered area under the home. On the ground level, accessible by outside entrance only, a game room greets you on the right featuring a pool table, huge 47” LCD TV, awe-inspiring sound system, and simple access to the enormous in-ground pool. Of course the game room has a refrigerator, wet-bar, microwave (for those late nighttime popcorn snacks), a couch bed and full bath. Sliding doors provide entry to the Tiki bar and seating area overlooking the pool. Additional comfortable lounge and deck chairs and pool lighting will make this area a focal point of your stay. The saltwater pool provides additional comfort for swimming and other pool activities. In addition, a gas grille, picnic table and a cozy hot tub will regenerate you after a long day of adventuring on the Outer Banks. A full outdoor shower and numerous foot showers are available.

CASABLANCA sits back about 900 feet from the ocean protecting the home and pool but still offering painless access to the beach by way of a walkway and covered overlook. CASABLANCA is walking distance to Avon Fishing Pier, eateries, and shopping.

The mid-level of the home has two king master bedrooms each with their private full bath. They share a common covered balcony overlooking the pool and beach walkway, and a cozy swing that the kids will adore. Three more bedrooms are available on this level, two with bunk beds and the third with queen bed is located next to the full hall bath. All the rooms are equipped with TV/DVD to watch that movie from bed that you discovered in the movie library on the top floor of the home.

An open, airy, roomy feel greets you on the top level with vaulted ceilings. Windows on the front, back and both sides of the home bring in sunny, breezy air. You may just want to turn the A/C off and appreciate the breezes. The top floor breakfast nook can accommodate that late-riser with eggs, bacon, pancakes and juice. Or it can be a place where the kids and adults savor a game that they found in the handy game chest. A sizable, well-equipped kitchen will delight any prepare and there is plenty of seating flexibility for the entire group from the huge dining table, to host memorable dinners, to the handy kitchen bar for sandwiches and snacks. After dinner, kick back in front of the 50” LCD T.V. and sound system with Netflix (on the Roku) and cable or step out onto the oceanfront balcony overlooking the pool and ocean with constructed-in seating on the sides. A week at CASABLANCA will leave you with a summer full of memories and want for a return visit in the near future! This home does not have a landline.

Sticking to your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your family's Hatteras vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
