Our top Rodanthe rental property booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in Rodanthe. To find the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hatteras restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the best rental home in the Hatteras area:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean breeze in your face. Crashing waves in your ear. Come stay and RELAX!!!! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
