Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hatteras attractions and restaurants.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best vacation home in Rodanthe:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Semi-Soundfront, Dog Friendly w/ Pool, Hot Tub, Cmty Pool/Tennis, + Sound Access has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
