When you aren't rocking on the balcony's rocking chairs, settle down in front of the living room's huge intelligent TV. When hunger arises, the well-equipped kitchen displays a pleasant space to play chef, or you can grab a delicious bite at one of the island's local eateries.

As you discover the rest of the home, you will quickly take notice of the equally inviting bedrooms, all cooled by central air-conditioning, and the additional laundry area.

Less than 12 miles from your front door, appreciate exploring Rodanthe Pier Place, the Salvo Day Use Area, Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, and a variety of local stores and galleries. As evening falls over the island, gather around the firepit to reminisce on all of the memories you've made thus far.

• Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
