In terms of aesthetics and functionality, we’ve upgraded the upper-level windows to sizable-picture windows. This change will not only beautify the vistas of the sunsets but also allow for an abundance of natural light, complemented by bespoke woodwork trim and fresh shiplap accents.

On the exterior, we’re introducing all-new railings on the decks and classy beach-themed furnishings, adding both safety and appeal to your outdoor experience.

Located on nearly eight acres of land, The Oaks offers privacy, seclusion, and close proximity to all of the activities Kinnakeet Shores has to offer. The Oaks is the crown jewel of Kinnakeet Shores, offering seven enormous main-bedroom suites and a full array of Avon amenities. The Oaks has two carports, ground-floor elevator access, covered showers, and a hot tub and pool with sun decks. A huge recreation room with a pool table, an entertainment center, a refrigerator, and a wet bar overlooks the sound and covered terraces. The laundry is close by on the third-floor landing. Crowning The Oaks is the fourth-level great room with 18-foot ceilings, expansive vistas, a fireplace, fresh furnishings, and an entertainment system. The world-class kitchen with granite countertops is ideal for huge groups.

This handsome home offers a host of activities. The Oaks' 1,800-foot private boardwalk winds through a bird and wildlife refuge, making it a nature lover's heaven. At the sound front, the path opens to a large deck ideal for windsurfing, kayaking, crabbing, sunbathing, and fishing. Appreciate private access and discover the breathtaking sound-side beach while observing a wide variety of wildlife. In addition to the home's private pool, you have access to two other pools - the Kinnakeet Shores community pool and tennis courts complex and the Club Hatteras pool. With so much to offer, The Oaks is a unique vacation experience.

The private pool is open seasonally from  4/26/2025 and closes 10/12/2025. Dates are subject to change.

Pool heat is available for an additional $60/nighttime fee, with at least 24-48 hours advance notice. Pool heat cannot be purchased from mid-June to mid-September.
Guests can access Kinnakeet Shores Pool & Tennis. You will receive an luxury pass during check-in to utilize the shared facility.
Please check individual luxury listings for open dates due to some off-season closures.
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking, which will be sent to your e-mail. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to family pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

About the Area

Located in Avon, this vacation home is on the waterfront. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Outer Banks Beaches and Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Surf's Up and Avon Fishing Pier are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Book your Hatteras vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by having your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Waterfront, dog-friendly home with private pool, hot tub, pier & beach has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Hatteras beach you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
