Our top Avon rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Narrow your Search:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanside Backyard Oasis pool, hot tub, tiki hut, fire pit has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Hatteras attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
