All Durant Station condos have central A/C, cable TV with HBO, Satellite HDTV with DVR, wireless high-speed internet for your laptop, solid surface counters in the kitchen, and sprinkler safety systems for your tranquility of mind.

Centrally located on the first floor is a coin-operated laundry facility (which even offers an ocean view). Some retreats have a stackable washer/dryer (see individual descriptions). A huge separate fish cleaning station, BBQ grilles, and outdoor shower facilities complete the picture.

Tips to get the perfect Hatteras vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • To find the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Hatteras area:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Second-floor oceanfront home with outdoor pool, hot tub, pool table, & W\/D has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
