Short walk to the beach, local deli, ice cream shop, nail/hair salon, jewelry store, and a convenient sidewalk to take in the whole village. Golf carts are available to rent in the village (message us for information about how to pre-book) and make getting to our local grocery store and fresh seafood eateries a breeze. Savor watching the boats come in with their fresh catch of the day. At the end of the day, prop up your feet with your drink of choice and listen to the waves crash on the beach while the sun sets over the sound side.

The apartment has two bedrooms, one bathroom, full kitchen, dining area and living area. One flight of interior stairs opens to a cozy reading nook. Upon entering the apartment you’ll see a living area with couch and two chairs, dining table with room for four, kitchen with enormous island/bar, and access to a private deck. Bathroom with shower is accessible off the hallway, and the two comfortable bedrooms are at the end of the hall. You can hear the ocean from the deck.

Southside 3 is your host, Wendy’s, mother’s former apartment. Edith Stowe was an involved member of our community, and adored the village where she was born, raised, lived, and raised her kids. She was a painter and her favorite color was the blue green that you’ll see throughout the space. We have kept a few of her touches, including her paintings. We hope you’ll feel at home and appreciate our casual way of life and southern hospitality.

Your hosts live on the same property but in a separate building. We pride ourselves on being extremely responsive to your questions and/or concerns.

Hatteras vacation rental booking tips:

Get the best rental home value:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Hatteras Village *** Southside 3 *** has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
