Finding the best Avon vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Avon. To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront home with hot tub, WiFi, ocean view, central AC, & washer\/dryer has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
