SEMI-OCEANFRONT Avon- Ocean View Dr. - Sun, Sand, Surf, and Cinema. ABOVE THE DUNES offers impressive ocean vistas from three levels of decks. The crow's nest observation deck provides spectacular expansive vistas of both the ocean and the sound for sunrise and sunset viewing. The top level "observatory room" offers 180 degree vistas, ideal for watching the charming OBX sunrises. Beach access is conveniently located directly across the street. And while at the home, savor your own private 15’ x 30' pool and 6-person hot tub.

If the sun isn't shining, step inside to the first level of the home featuring a full bathroom, game room, and theater room. The spectacular theater room features a 90" TV and nine plush cushioned theater seats. Hold private screenings of your favorites on Netflix. This theater room can be a real vacation-saver when the weather won't allow the kids to frolic on the beach, or when the adults need some quality time away from the kids. The game room also offers respite from the weather and offers a pool table, TV, mini-refrigerator, and full bathroom.

The second level has two master suites including one king and one queen each with private bathrooms. Another king bedroom on this level shares a bath with a bedroom with two sets of bunk beds. The third level has one more queen bedroom, plus a bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen, and very comfortable living and dining areas with direct access to a deck and picnic table. A half flight up is the observatory room.

Ample parking leads to a dry entry with a dumbwaiter for transporting suitcases and provisions to any level. ABOVE THE DUNES is centrally located in Kinnakeet Shores, and just a few mins. from area eateries, the Avon fishing pier, and shopping.   • In the Hatteras area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hatteras restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine when you arrive at the rental property.
