On the ground level is a game room with foosball and a sizable screen TV, plus two bedrooms that share a full bath. The mid level features two master bedrooms that lead to the hot tub and a screened porch. The top floor great room has pretty vistas, vaulted ceilings and a powder room. Within walking distance to Barton's Hole - prime windsurfing and kiteboarding location.

Get the best value:

• Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
• The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
• Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
• Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.

• If there's an individual Hatteras destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
• Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

• Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
• Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
• Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
