OCEANVIEW Waves - North Wimble Shores - The lure of the sea, the sun, the sand, and the appeal of Hatteras Island are SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE, and this enchanting home sets them all off to full advantage with two oceanside decks and impressive vistas. - Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. - Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.

- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
