How to get the best Rodanthe vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hatteras attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectrental home:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront and Dog Friendly Home w\/ Hot Tub. Directly on the Beach in Rodanthe! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
