Our top Hatteras rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the perfectvacation home:
- First, have your family agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Waterfront & Well-Equipped House w\/Free WiFi, Private W\/D, Hot Tub & Shared Pool has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
