Strategies to get the best Rodanthe vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking the rightvacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Semi-Sound Front - Pool, Community Tennis Court & Sound Access has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
