How to find the best Rodanthe vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanside, Private Pool, Hot Tub, Ocean Views has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
