OCEANVIEW Waves - La Waves Drive - Just four tons from the ocean with pretty vistas, DANCING DUNES just might be the next dream hideaway for your family. Expansive beaches plus the unique package of handsome design, splendid vistas, private pool with pool heat available, bubbling hot tub, multiple gathering areas, and generous amenities all combine to make this home a crowd pleaser.

Imagine calming in the hot tub or appreciating cool drinks on roomy decks with charming vistas of the ocean and sound. There is plenty of room for the whole family. The ground level features covered parking, a game room with wet bar, a master bedroom, and a bedroom with semi-private full bath. Wrap-around decks, two master bedrooms, two additional bedrooms sharing a bath, a den and the laundry room are on the mid-level. The top level features more decks, an open great room with surround sound home theater, a kitchen fit to feed a crowd, powder room, and a master bedroom.

New for 2024: All new decking and railings. New heat pump for the private pool.
New for 2023: Now providing full linens including sheets (with beds made), bath towels, hand towels, washcloths all year. Dogs are welcome for a fee of $200/dog/week.
If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the $200 weekly fee will apply for each dog and will be added once your reservation is finalized.

Vacation Rental Protection Plan: This required non-returnable $95 plan covers accidental damage within the home with a coverage limit of $3,000. It does not cover theft or willful misconduct. You must notify Surf or Sound Realty of any damage that occurs during your occupancy or this coverage will be void. Coverage is effective at time of check-in and ends at time of check-out.

Getting the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Waves. To find the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hatteras attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.

Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. During your stay:

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it.
