The Durant Station Condominiums offer spectacular ocean vistas, and you'll have a private oceanfront deck and a sound-side deck for viewing colorful sunsets. Elevator service to all levels makes Durant Station a most convenient choice for all ages: no need to haul bags and groceries up long flights of stairs! You'll be just a few short steps to the ocean via a private wooden walkway. The Hatteras area offers some of the best fishing and sunbathing on the East Coast.

Appreciate a host of amenities, including one of Hatteras Islands' biggest private pools with an adjacent hot tub available from April 1 through January 2. The Durant Station Community Center is crowned by the original historic Durant Lifesaving Station tower, a rich piece of Hatteras Island's past. The Community Center is ideal for calming with friends, conducting meetings, wedding events, and receptions, or simply appreciating the lounge areas, which offer a sizable-screen 50-inch plasma TV and a complete kitchen on the upper level. The Durant Station complex consists of three floors, which start about 12 feet above the ground.

This hideaway is elegantly furnished and completely equipped with linens to make your stay comfortable and memorable. All new appliances were added at the end of 2022, along with fresh carpet in the bedrooms. Additional amenities include central air-conditioning, cable TV with HBO, satellite HDTV with DVR, wireless high-speed Internet for your laptop, solid surface counters in the kitchen, and sprinkler safety systems for your tranquility of mind. This second-floor home away from home provides a stackable washer/dryer.

A huge separate fish cleaning station, BBQ grilles, and outdoor shower facilities complete the picture. The Durant Station Condominiums are located in Hatteras Village, oceanfront on Highway 12. Savor being beachfront and near local eateries and stores.

THINGS TO KNOW
This home has access to a community pool, the community pools in our area are typically open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Community pools are operated at the discretion of the community HOA so the availability schedule may be subject to change without notice.

About the Area

Located in Hatteras, this condo is on the beach. Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum and Frisco Native American Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include Frisco Mini Golf and Go Karts and Buxton Seafood. Traveling with kids? Consider Uncle Eddy's Frozen Custard and 18-Hole Mini Golf and Surf's Up. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer time is high season in Hatteras. Reserve your Hatteras vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself.   • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
