Build a gorgeous resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bicycles, because Buxton’s unique stores, eateries, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD car - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers). This is an gorgeous two-bedroom condo with one-and-a-half baths. The interior has been professionally-decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio, and there are plenty of appliances, counter space, and cabinet storage in the full kitchen. The living room is a great place to appreciate a movie nighttime with friends and family after a fun day on the beach. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

Our top Buxton rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Hatteras restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
