Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Frisco rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Cozy canalfront w\/ Private Dock\/Bring your windsporting gear to L'ESCAPE has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
