Booking the best Hatteras rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking your Hatteras rental:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Cozy beach house steps away from the Pamlico Sound in quiet neighborhood. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
