Rental home tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the best value, change your family's Hatteras vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best vacation home in Frisco:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Waterfront home w\/ private dock, hot tub, charcoal grill, A\/C, multiple decks has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Hatteras beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
