Finding the best Waves vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing the perfectvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Waterfront 3-Bedroom, 2.5-Bathroom Penthouse Suite at REAL Watersports has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
