Tips to get the perfect Hatteras rental experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting and booking your prefect Hatteras rental:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Total 3 Bedrooms All Masters!! Stylish, relaxing and comfortable has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
