Tips for getting the best rental home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. The Salty Starfish Retreat - Oceanside, 4 Bedroom, Hot Tub, Newly renovated! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your family.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
