Two sun decks provide ocean vistas, and the covered decks offer an outside shaded getaway. The ocean is a short walk to the wooden beach access walkway (a few feet from the home's driveway)that leads to stairs up the dunes. Outside conveniences include a fire pit, grille, cover parking and a nook with a Bumper pool table. The ground level entry into the home offers elevator access to all floors, so move-in will be fast and effortless. The second level features three attractively decorated queen master bedrooms, each with its on bathroom, tv, and covered deck. Then up just a half level is the master bedroom with desk area, TV and a private bath featuring a shower stall and extravagant Jacuzzi tub. From here takes up another half level to the roomy main living area with high ceilings and tall windows that allow the natural light to enter the space. Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in Avon. Reserve your Hatteras rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hatteras visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and picking yourvacation home:
- To start, have your family select a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Surf Buddy is 50 yards to beach and a life time of memorys! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If there's an individual Hatteras destination you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
