Bringing a boat? There’s room for it in the under-the-home parking area with plenty of space.   • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Hatteras area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses.
