Cavernous, bright, and generously furnished, Mermaid's Dream offers the ideal blend of comfort and serenity with a coastal vibe. This oceanfront vacation home sits right on the beach with the best view of the Atlantic Ocean and the famed Rodanthe Pier. The roomy deck is the prime spot to sit and watch the waves roll in, savor beautiful sunrises, star gazing at nighttime, and if you look close enough you'll even see dolphins. Coupled with an array of amenities, guests will have everything they need to complete their Hatteras Island vacation experience.

Ground Level: When you pull up to this one-of-a-kind beach bungalow, you'll realize your dreams have come true. Just steps from the deck is an uncrowded and incredibly handsome beach. You'll have no problem finding the ideal spot to relax with your toes in the sand, a good summer read, and a drink in your hand!

First Level: The first level includes three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Bedroom #1 features a King with an en suite that includes a separate shower and hottub tub. The slider leads to a covered deck that is virtually on top of the ocean. Bedroom #2 features two Kings. This bedroom has two windows; one with ocean vistas, the other a view of the sound in the distance. Next to bedroom #2 is the 3rd King bedroom with a enormous window and direct deck access overlooking the ocean. A shared full bathroom is across the hall. All three bedrooms have flat-screen TVs and DVDs, and are light-filled, comfortable, and beautiful. Take in the ocean air on the deck swing, relax on the well-structured furnishings, or rinse the salt water off in the outdoor shower with hot and cold water. Also, downstairs is a nice welcoming entry and a full washer and dryer.

Top Level: Upstairs showcases plenty of space for the entire family or group to spend time together. The sun-filled living area is very open, welcoming, and attractively decorated. A sizable sectional couch and two chairs face the two 8' sliders for a elegant view of the ocean. The completely equipped gourmet and modern kitchen is a delight for any cooking enthusiast. The dining area, open to the living room and kitchen, has seating for 8 plus 3 seats at the island. A coffee station with a Keurig coffee maker and a traditional drip coffee maker is calling your name. Prefer outdoor dining? Catch a nice breeze and take in the view on the screened porch or soak in the striking vistas from the broad oceanfront deck. It's the ideal spot for grilling, calming, or happy hour. There's no better place to work on your tan between trips to the beach. There is a King bedroom with a connecting full bath, private access to the oceanfront deck, and a flat-screen TV and DVD round out this room.

While staying in Mermaid's Dream, exploring is a must. Hatteras Island is simply the most beautiful place on earth - where the Atlantic Ocean and Pamlico Sound are separated by a thin, fragile slice of land. Hatteras Lighthouse, Pea Island National Wild Refuge, the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, and cozy villages of Avon, Buxton, Waves, Frisco, and Salvo are all within a short drive. Traveling the length of Hatteras Island on the pretty Outer Banks of North Carolina is a coastal bicycle trail that's as dreamy as it sounds. Running along the seashore, vistas of the bay and ocean greet you at every turn. You'll want to take the whole family along to discover this famed island that offers gorgeous vistas every way you look!

In Rodanthe, discover the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Museum, Civil War Battle of Chicamacomico Races, and try to identify each of the over 400 species of birds. Or simply lay back and appreciate reading and watching the surf.

Please Note: There are cameras on site that are for security purposes when the home is not occupied and are turned off during rental times. The HVAC will shut off if doors or windows are left open to keep the compressors from freezing up resulting in damage to the AC systems.

Linens and towels are supplied all year. This home will provide sheets for all beds and the beds will be made except sleep couches, top bunk beds, and trundle beds in which case the sheets are included. This home also provides 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth per person the home sleeps, 2 hand towels per full bathroom, 1 hand towel per half bathroom, and a bath mat for each shower or tub.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance.
