How to book the best Rodanthe vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • To find the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best vacation home in the Hatteras area:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Ocean-view home with deck, screened porch, central AC, washer\/dryer, & WiFi has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your group.
  • If there's an individual Hatteras attraction you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
