Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in Hatteras. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Inviting house with central AC, private pool, hot tub, ocean views, & W\/D has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
