Strategies to get the very best Hatteras vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Avon. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Classic, Dog-Friendly Home w\/ AC, Shared Pool, High-Speed WiFi - Steps to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
