Booking the best rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the largest rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- Start by having your group commit to the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. RSR2B Pamlico Vista by First Flight Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Hatteras attraction you simply love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
