Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Hatteras restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in Rodanthe:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Tranquil Oceanfront Condo, Rodanthe- Resort Pool & Elevator, Boardwalk to Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
