Strategies to get the optimal Hatteras vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your Hatteras rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the Hatteras area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Hatteras area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Single-level home 350 yards from the beach with sundecks & WiFi - 2 dogs OK has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.

  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
