When to visit Rodanthe & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Hatteras vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses.
