DUNE CRAB is not packed with bedrooms, at 4,484 sq. ft. ; it was designed for you to find your own space, indoors or out, in every season. This broad four-level handicap-friendly home has an elevator for simple access to all levels of the home. Make a splash in the glimmering private pool with calming constructed-in whirlpool, or lounge around on the roomy poolside patio with Tiki bar. The first floor has a game room with wet bar, pool table, TV, queen futon, half bath and laundry area. The second level has an awe-inspiring media area with sizable screen TV, comfortable seating and couch bed; three bedrooms (each with private bath) - two are suites with ocean vistas that open onto a shaded oceanside deck. The third level is the heart of the home. It has a humongous great room with couches, an open kitchen with wrap around bar and wall to wall glass for unparalleled Atlantic vistas opening onto a wide furnished oceanfront deck. Dine indoors on the huge indoor table, the modest breakfast table, or just outside on the south side screened porch with hammock, which is just off of the kitchen. The fourth level features two additional master suites (one with handicap friendly bath) and more oceanside seating with countless vistas, opening to a furnished sundeck with a hot tub. Located in Buxton, this vacation home is on the beach. Buxton Woods Nature Trail and Uncle Eddy's Frozen Custard and 18-Hole Mini Golf are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit Buxton Seafood and Frisco Mini Golf and Go Karts. Surf's Up and Hatteras Island Boardsports are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

  • In the Hatteras area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hatteras restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.

Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.

  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
