OCEANFRONT Rodanthe — Featured in “Nights in Rodanthe” If a home could elicit 1,000 sighs, it would most certainly be INN AT RODANTHE, the iconic setting for the movie “Nights in Rodanthe” starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane, based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. While most movie sets are elusive figments of a director’s imagination, this one is real — blue shutters and all — and ready to welcome guests to their own cinematic-like dreams.
While the Atlantic’s pounding waves no longer lap at the home’s pilings (the home was physically moved to protect it from future storms), the six-bedroom/four-full and one-half-bath home still sits on a majestic oceanfront perch with pretty vistas to admire from multiple levels of outdoor decks. Staircases on two sides provide entry to the home’s first level where there is a comfortable living room with a decorative fireplace, kitchen, and dining area. Movie fans will note some of the film’s set pieces like the artful swinging kitchen doors — the owners have added some original props and whimsical touches to replicate the movie home appeal. The roomy kitchen is well-equipped to prepare meals that can be served at the eight-seat dining room table or more intimately at a smaller charming table for two by the window. The first level also offers a wet bar, full bath, and laundry area.
Four bedrooms occupy the second level, including the famed antique-filled blue bedroom where Paul Flanner (Gere’s character) slept and another with two twins where Adrienne (Ladd’s character) recalled memories of her dad. There’s also a master king overlooking the ocean and a garden room with a queen bed. One more king bedroom is on the third level and features a kitchenette and sitting area providing a secluded hideaway with ocean view. The final tower bedroom is a king featuring ocean vistas that seem to go on forever.
While the home’s decks provide much of the film’s harrowing action, guests will find them a never-ending source of total relaxation and relaxing moments. Spot dolphins out at sea from Adirondack chairs or a swinging bench. Find a rocker and settle in with a good book, maybe another Nicholas Sparks novel? The lower deck sports a hot tub, ideal for a relaxing soak as the waves roll ashore; a screened-in porch offers an outdoor respite, protected from the elements. Ardent fans of the film will discover there are other filming locations close by to discover, but without a doubt, the stretch of private beach in front of the home will always be the main attraction. The idea of discovering second chances is what made “Nights in Rodanthe” a handsome story. Make one of your own by booking INN AT RODANTHE.

Tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
When to book a Hatteras rental home & When to go:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best rental home in Rodanthe:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Featured in “Nights in Rodanthe”! Oceanfront w\/ Hot Tub, Screened Porch, + Grill has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
