How to get the best Hatteras rental home experience:
When to visit Buxton & When to reserve a Hatteras rental home:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Buxton. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental home in the Hatteras area:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront, Dog-Friendly House w/Free WiFi, Shared Pool, and Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
