How to get the best Buxton rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Hatteras area. To get the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront, Dog-Friendly House w\/Free WiFi, Shared Pool, and Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
