Build a handsome resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are steps from the beachfront. Bring the bicycles because Buxton's unique stores, eateries, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD car - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and, if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests (be careful to stay outside the barriers).

The interior has been professionally decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outside shower and a patio. An escape to the cape never looked so good as at Cottages at the Cape.

Guests can savor access to the Club Hatteras Pool Facility, roughly six miles north in Avon.
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your e-mail. You will not be able to check-in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the nightly pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting "Yes" to family pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The nightly fee ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

About the Area

Located in Buxton, this vacation home is in a rural area and near the beach. Studio 12 and Kinnakeet Clay Works are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Buxton Woods Nature Trail and Uncle Eddy's Frozen Custard and 18-Hole Mini Golf. Buxton Seafood and Frisco Mini Golf and Go Karts are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Buxton. Book your Hatteras vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hatteras area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review.
