The Outer Banks Motel on Cape Hatteras is offering a unique opportunity to stay in one of its original, though newly refreshed, two bedroom cottages that was moved from the oceanfront location decades before to rescue it from an impending hurricane. The guest favorite "G3" as we call it, is part of the 'Garden Cottages Collection' and is safely located one mile from the oceanfront on the historic Cape Creek Canal. After registering and procuring your bungalow keys and directions from the main office located on the oceanfront, you'll park in the gravel lot that was once a lush family garden 50+ years ago. After climbing a few short steps to the deck overlooking the Creek, your key opens the storm door to the glassed-in four-season porch complete with rocking chairs. Another keyed door off the porch opens into the living area. The main interior features an open floor plan with each of its two bedrooms opening into the main living and dining area. Each bedroom has an antique dresser, double bed and a twin bed, closet, and additional blankets. The bedroom windows look out onto the Canal. The complete kitchen has all the amenities you may need, including a full range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, dual tub kitchen sink, standard coffee maker, toaster, and electric can opener. Every utensil, pan, pot, and complete set of dishes are there for your convenience. A full-sized dining room table with six chairs is located between the kitchen and living room area. The living room has a comfortable leather couch and nautical-themed lounge chair with additional pillows. A 32" Intelligent T.V. with standard cable and internet is there for your rainy day enjoyment. Several family heirloom antiques are blended throughout the decor adding to the casual island ambiance. The full bathroom is located at the far end of the bungalow, complete with bathtub and shower for those days when only a long soaking bath will do. On clear nights, you may see the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse light circle the sky every seven seconds over the Creek. Full access to the pool, hot tub and oceanfront amenities are included.
Please Note: Cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance to be eligible for a refund.

Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Village Accomodations - Two Bedroom Cottage Two Doubles and Two Twins has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.

- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
