Our top Vacation rental tips:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Hatteras area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the perfectrental:

  • To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. AVON RETREAT, SOUNDVIEW AVON, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
