Tips for getting the best Avon rental experience:
When to reserve a Hatteras rental home & When to go:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are high season in Avon. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Hatteras area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your family select vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. AVON RETREAT, SOUNDVIEW AVON, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
