Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Hatteras vacation rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Hatteras area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hatteras area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect rental in Buxton:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanfront, Dog-Friendly House w/ Shared Pool, Free WiFi, Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
