Our top Buxton rental home booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hatteras area. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- In the Hatteras area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Hatteras area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront dog-friendly home close to sand with views & private hot tub has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
