You will certainly find more than Somethin' Fishy at this 3,500+ square foot (including two screened porches) Kinnakeet waterfront home. Located on the peaceful sound side, Somethin' Fishy is a short jump over the pond to the beach access. If you'd prefer to have fun on the water rather than in it, book a fishing charter and relax as you cast a line and embrace the breathtaking vistas.

If the fish aren't biting at the lake, try a invigorating dip in the private 32 x 14 cement pond (pool). The ground level has a carport, fish cleaning table, under-home entry, bath, and two bedrooms (bedroom one with pyramid bunk and bedroom two with a double plus trundle) with kid's TV. The elevator takes tired sportsmen to the giant octagon-shaped bedroom number three with a king bed, adjacent huge bath, and covered deck on the second floor adjacent to a furnished recreation room with pool table, intelligent TV, wet bar, and full refrigerator. Main king bedroom number four has a private bath and deck access. Main bedroom number five is a suite with a king, private bath, walk-in closet, desk, and access to screened porch with a bubbly hot tub. The third level has a unique octagonal tower room with TV/DVD plus surround sound overlooking a whale of a room with tall ceilings, a half bath, lavish furnishings, and accesses two sundecks. Cook up Somethin' Fishy in this well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, close by dining table, and screened porch. End your day of fish tales by snoozing in main queen bedroom six with a private bath.

Tricks and tips to get the very best Hatteras vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Summertime is high season in the Hatteras area. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hatteras vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Hatteras area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hatteras visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best vacation rental in the Hatteras area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Dog-friendly home with private hot tub, pool, & pool table has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hatteras rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a specific Hatteras destination you simply love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
